Evaluation of the Design

Posted in 3. Detailed Design and Evaluation phase. by Johan Langendoen on January 17, 2010

Setup
In this stage we think it’s mainly interesting to see how people react on our project as such and if they think they would participate. Therefore we made a document with some global project information and a short summary of what the project is. After that we ask some questions about the project. We’ve sent this document to five people within our targetgroup. Click on this link to view our questions and this link for a pdf with results.

Conclusions

  • They are enthusiastic about the project
  • Most of them would participate or consider participating
  • There should be more focus on getting everyone in Delft to participate, so also the elderly

So to conclude we think that our project can have a positive effect, but we need to motivate elder people to participate. For instance by promoting our videobox more and let them see how simple it is. Also the costs of texting a message should be made clear, because people might think it is very expensive.

Projection Design

Posted in 3. Detailed Design and Evaluation phase. by Johan Langendoen on January 16, 2010

The designs were ready for quite a while now, but why not post it on the blog! So hereby our designs for projection. The graffiti designs are an impression of an artist impression (that sounds great!) which we want to broadcast during three big evening events. Of course we assume that the real artists come up with something extremely different. The other images show how the regular projection, where people can send photos and messages, should look like!

Content Distribution

Posted in 3. Detailed Design and Evaluation phase. by Johan Langendoen on December 16, 2009

The use of generated content creates a certain risk. There is a tension between freedom of speech and a chance of offending people. Therefore we want an automatic bot to check text-messages for offending words. We are aware of the fact this isn’t fully waterproof, but it probably will be enough. Other content like photos and videos will be manually checked, so during a month we have a bunch of people monitoring content. All content should be distributed through the website to create a simple and manageable system.

Slight change of a plan

Posted in 2. Conceptual Design phase by Johan Langendoen on December 6, 2009

Dear followers, it has been a while 😉 but 50% of our team was sick last week and we also made up our minds and changed our ideas a bit. Hereby I will sum up what has changed:

  • First we changed the 1 year to 1 month to make it more compact and keep the project ‘fresh’ without the users getting bored.
  • Focus on  3 main elements: Projection, Website & Short Messages/Photos.
  • No seperate media campaign; the biggest advertisement is the project itself.
  • Participating starts directly when the project starts.

Please have a quick look at our document or download the PDF Document to get the real feeling!
